A giant of the Greens – fighting for people and environment

I first met Janet Rice in 2016 when we headed down the surf coast together speak with environmental campaigners about gas and oil drilling in the Great Australian Bight.

I felt so lucky to be beside Janet during those meetings. A fierce advocate for climate action, nature conservation, LGBTQIA+ rights, and social justice, Janet played a key role in building the Greens movement that I had recently joined.

Since then, it’s been an extraordinary privilege to get to know Janet and see first hand just how hard she fights for people and the environment in all that she does.

On a personal level, I am deeply grateful for Janet’s generosity and support.

She has never been too busy to take a call, provide advice, or come down to Geelong to lend a hand.

You are a giant of Greens, and I wish you all the best Senator Rice!
